Trip Overview
The Tilicho Lake Trek offers exceptional views of Tilicho Peak, Kangsar Kang (Rock Noir), Gangapurna, Tare Kang (Glacier Dome), Annapurna III, Nilgiri, and Dhaulagiri Himal, rustic villages built by various native ethnic groups, and of course the highest lake in the world, Lake Tilicho. This stunningly beautiful lake collects glacial water from the northern slopes of Annapurna and Muktinath Himal mountains.
The Tilicho Lake trek is basically the Annapurna Circuit Trek but with deviations off the main trail to make it a unique experience. The trek starts in Besisahar and follows the Marshyangdi River. The trail leads through the villages of Tal, Dharani, Chame, and Pisang and through climatic conditions ranging from tropical to alpine.
In Manang, a day is taken for acclimatization and for short adventures through villages rich in Tibetan Buddhist Culture. The Trek continues to Tilicho Lake and near Gangapurna and Tilico peaks. The trek then crosses over Mesokanto La pass and finishes in Jomsom where a short plane ride takes trekkers to Pokhara.
