Trip Overview

The Nar and Phu Village trek explores narrow canyons with beautiful geologic formations, antique monasteries, native cultures, high mountain passes with accompanying yaks, and emerald green forests. This trek is recommended for experienced trekkers.

Similar to the Annapurna Circuit trek, this trek begins in Besi Shahar. After a distance past Koto, over a river, and through a forest the Nar and Phu valleys open to vast expanses of high snow packed peaks, and agricultural settlements. Relatively untouched by westerners this trek is full of unadulterated cultural experiences.

Buddhist pilgrims from all around Nepal make the passage to Phu to visit Tashi Lhakhang Gompa. The great Lama Karma Sonam Rinpoche gives blessings to visitors. Further along on the trek, the alpine valleys above Phu offer scenery that elicit feelings of unified serenity.

At over 5300 m, the Kang La pass offers views overlooking Annapurna 2, Gangapurna, and Tilicho peak. The trek finishes in Jomsom where travelers can take a short airplane flight to Pokhara.
