Tibetan Rope Incense is made from different types of natural herbs found in Tibet and Nepal.  The incense is traditionally burned in rituals, and as an offering to Nag, the snake God in Hinduism.   The rope incense is hand made by monks in the traditional Monastic way.

Long strips of rice paper a laid out.  The mixture of fragrant herbs are rubbed together in a bowl, then pinched in appropriate sized portions, and placed in hand made rice paper.  The paper containing the herbs is then rolled and twisted into small rope-like strings resembling a braid.

This incense produces an abundant amount of fragrant smoke.  When it is placed in a Tibetan Rope Incense Holder, the burn can be regulated to keep the incense from overpowering a room.
